BROMSGROVE'S new railway station remains on track for a November opening.
The work to construct the new station at the site in Aston Fields, at the end of New Road, is well underway.
The multi-million pound station will feature four platforms, a staffed ticket office, a passenger waiting room, toilets, automated ticketing, covered cycle storage, vending machines, and covered access to the lift and stairs.
Worcestershire County Council officials say work has so far concentrated on preparing the area - in particular the railway - for the construction of the new station.
Work completed so far includes moving two main lines through the station site to their new location, with these new locations now being able to be seen at the site.
During January and February work concentrated on removing contaminated soil from the site, where an oil terminal used to operate.
When this is complete Network Rail's contractor is to begin work on the main phase of the construction.
Once the main phase is completed the new station will be able to open.
The works include the car park, platforms, installation of footbridge and lifts, and construction of the main new station building.
The plan is for the new station to close once the new one opens in November 2015.
Railway users are being warned that the plan is to replace all rail services to and from Bromsgrove over a 12 day period around autumn half term.
During this period coaches will be provided rather than rail services. London Midland and Network Rail will be providing further details of the closure nearer to the time - including the exact dates and details of how the coach replacement service will operate.
The closure is needed to give Network Rail time to install new signalling, compatible with electrification of the line.
Residents living near to the station, as well as rail commuters, are also being made aware that work is set to take place "in the near future" on changing the existing mini roundabout next to the Ladybird pub - at the junction of New Road, Stoke Road and Finstall Road - so it becomes traffic light controlled.
The plan is for the station work to be completed by the autumn so that the new station can open in November 2015.
