Kris welcomed everyone to the September meeting and read apologies from eleven members.Thanks to Jean T and Sandra for making cakes and tea and to Carolynne for standing in at the sales table.Two birthdays Jane and Amy they were both given cards.
Book Club next meeting on October 3 at Pam M’s.
Culture Club’s next meeting will be in November date and venue to be confirmed at October meeting.
Skittles team will meet September 27 7.30pm at Catshill Social Club to play Frankley WI
Possibility of a walk round Arrow Park or along the canal volunteer to coordinate please.
Ideas wanted for August 2017 outing already have a few from committee but others welcome.
We have been involved with successful fund raising activities this year contributing to a silent auction and coffee morning organised by Raye at Blackwell and Burcot WI to support Denman College also Blackwell School Fete again raising funds to support Denman College. Visits include Snowshill Manor and Lavender Fields, a cruise on the Countess of Snowdon from Stratford upon Avon and tuition at Bromsgrove Golf Centre all trips followed by lunch.
A Macmillan coffee afternoon is being held on September 29 at Burcot Village Hall 2pm till 4.30pm entry £3.
ACM is to be held October 18 at Malvern. Kris and Teresa will attend
Sidemoor WI Hosting group meeting on October 19 at Amphlett Hall and have invited three ladies.
Speakers programme for 2017 is on going.
An appeal for toiletries, non perishable foodstuffs and various items has been made by Worcester Federation on behalf of St Paul's Hostel and Droitwich food bank to be handed in by the end of November.
Christmas Cards we have decided instead of sending cards to each other this year we will donate to a charity this is entirely voluntary donations to Treasurer at November meeting.
Norma read out a letter from Ron Gallivan our speaker in July thanking members for their interest and offering his services as a short term speaker.
Secretary's report included invitations from Blackwell and Burcot and Dodford’s birthday parties.
The speaker for this evening was Sue Barratt CBE.
Sue outlined her career from her early days starting as a teacher at The Meadows to present day as head teacher of Bournville. Her achievements are many, too numerous to include. Sue also brought with her the official recording of her day at the Palace and her commendation and photo’s and of course her medal the CBE.
Sylvia thanked Sue for her talk which we all enjoyed.
The next meeting at The Wheel St Catherine’s Church Hall is October 20 7.30pm with speaker David Bartley, Black Country comedian.
