Burcot Garden Club
The Burcot Garden Club’s October meeting was held recently and was very well attended. The speaker for the evening was Andy Pedrick, a seasoned horticulturist and speaker, who’s subject for the night was “Pruning”. He started the evening, with long tables stretched out in front of the audience covered in a vast array of pruning implements and a veritable jungle of branches and vegetation of all kinds. There followed a very practical demonstration of the best tools, how to maintain them, and the methods to control and encourage shrubs and trees of all kinds. It was a light hearted and lively talk, with questions fired from the floor at Andy throughout the demonstration. Indeed, such were the number of questions that we had to curtail them so the evening could finish on time.
November’s talk will be given by Duncan Coombs, retired lecturer of Pershore College, and will cover “Barks, Stems and Plants for the Winter Garden”. He will also be bringing plants for sale.
The Burcot Garden Club meets at 7.30pm every 1st Wednesday of the month at Burcot Village Hall. Non-members are always welcome.
