St Catherine’s Blackwell WI
In November we welcomed one visitor and apologies were received from various members unable to attend.
Kris thanked Sue R for arranging chairs and ensuring that the heating was turned on for our meeting.
Sue W and Pat were thanked for providing cakes, teas, and coffee. Next years tea rota was circulated. Birthdays in November and December include Maureen, Pam M, Ann and a special birthday for Margaret.
Flowers and a card were sent to Norma who is recovering from a knee operation and a letter of thanks from Norma was read out.
Two members Kris and Teresa attended the Annual Council meeting at Malvern where they and other WI members spent an interesting day and were entertained by speakers Chelsea Pensioner Brian Cummings and Ingrid Seward the editor of Majesty magazine.
At our October meeting we celebrated our 12th Birthday with a party and Kris thanked everyone for making it a success including the Black Country Comedian David Bartley who entertained us with his amazing wit.
Donations were collected this month as instead of sending Christmas cards to each other it had been decided to make donations to two local charities.
Book clubs next meeting is November 21 and Culture Club will meet for afternoon tea on November 24 at Badger Nurseries.
The Group Carol concert is on December 8 2pm at Beacon Church Rubery and our Christmas meal will be held at Barnt Green Cricket Club on December 8that 7pm
Various other events to take place in 2017 were mentioned.
The speaker for the evening was introduced Roz Freeman it was Roz’s second visit to us to demonstrate her skill of flower arranging and her arrangements were lovely. She very generously donated them as raffle prizes.
The next meeting will be January 19 2017 at The Wheel St Catherine’s Blackwell visitors and new members welcome.
