A 24-year-old man has died after he was found trapped inside his car in water off Kidderminster Road in Dodford early on Monday morning, having suffered fatal injuries.
The tragedy, which is thought to have happened at around 6.45am on January 2, involved a blue Peugeot 206 which is believed to have left the road and collided with a bridge in a stream below the carriageway.
An ambulance and two senior paramedic officers were called to the incident shortly before 9.45am, although the man was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews discovered a car in the water with a man inside.
"Unfortunately, once he was freed from the car it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
Fire crews from Bromsgrove and Kidderminster, as well as a Water Rescue Vehicle from Droitwich, also attended the incident, which police are now investigating.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "As a result of the collision a 24-year-old man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time or anyone who may have seen the Peugeot, which was travelling in the direction away from Kidderminster, shortly before the incident."
Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 and quote incident number 74s of January 2.
