PLANS to build seven retail units and 10 apartments in the car park of Rubery’s New Rose and Crown pub have been submitted to Bromsgrove District Council.
The proposal was received last month, and outlines plans for four one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments, as well as seven retail units.
The retail units are expected to provide 14 full-time and seven part-time jobs.
If approved by district planners, the first group of units are set to be open to the public from 7am to 10pm Monday to Sunday, and the second from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
The proposal describes two separated buildings, one 'west block' and another 'east block'.
The pub's car parking spaces will be reduced from 30 to seven, with four cycle spaces, while the ground floor retail units will take another seven car parking and six cycle spaces.
The residential apartments would have 16 car parking and 16 secured cycle spaces.
The application was submitted by site owner Peter Styles.
Bromsgrove District Council launched an investigation at the site in August last year, after allegations were made that the car park was being used as an illegal business.
Several residents had complained that the site was too messy, with one saying it looked "as if a bomb has just exploded".
