A CAR fire on the M42 between Bromsgrove and Redditch is causing delays.
Highways England reported the incident on M42 Northbound between J1 A38 / B4096 (Bromsgrove) and J2 A441 (Alvechurch/Redditch) just after 2pm.
There was stationary traffic due to the car fire and all traffic was being temporarily held.
Lanes one and two of three were closed to assist with a car that is on fire on the hard shoulder, and a fire engine attended the scene.
But around half an hour later Highways England said the fire had been extinguished, with traffic released.
A Twitter post read: "Delays of around 30 minutes on approach. Please allow extra journey time."
It is the second car fire on the M42 today, after traffic was held northbound between Junction 3 A435 (Portway /Redditch) and Junction 3A M40 this morning due to a similar incident.
