CONSTRUCTION work has officially started on a new 202-home housing development in Stoke Prior.
Barratt Homes is heading the build at Henbrook Gardens, located on Westonhall Road, which is bringing 404 jobs and £431,000 worth of investment to the area.
The cash will go towards education, bus stop improvements and cycle parking, as well as providing a public open space on the site.
Graydon Worthing, sales director at Barratt Homes, said: "We are very excited to be starting work on Henbrook Gardens, which will offer a mixture of two, three and four bedroom homes.
"The development will begin to take shape in the following months.
“Alongside building new homes, we will also be investing in the local area so the residents of Worcestershire feel the benefits.”
A selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes, designed for professional couples and growing families, are set to go on sale later this summer.
The development was named in a competition at Stoke Prior First School by 10-year-old Leah Rosewell, who 'cut the sod' at a traditional ground-breaking ceremony.
Leah said: "I chose the name Henbrook Gardens because Henbrook is the name of the brook next to the local canal, and because there are lots of gardens and nurseries nearby.”
Leah's winning name will be used on all signs and promotional material for the lifetime of the development, which is located a short walk away from Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club.
