BLACKWELL Festival is back this weekend, offering music enthusiasts a wide range of local talent.

The event, set to go ahead on September 11, follows the cancellation of Blackwell’s Summer party due to Covid restrictions.

Blackwell festival committee organise two events every year – the summer party is a free event for families.

Chair of the committee, Emma Westwood said: “The whole ethos of the summer party is socialising with family, and we had already moved the original date to July 17 due to restrictions and unfortunately we had to cancel it in the end.

“However, the music festival will have nine bands this year to make up for missed events, as we usually only have five bands performing.

“Our headline act is an 80s band called Born in the 80s and we also have a very cool lady called Josie Field who is originally from South Africa but has relocated to Alvechurch – she is multi award winning!

“We will have two stages, lots of food vendors and children’s entertainment including a bouncy castle and garden games.

“It is a great family occasion, and we have music for all age groups.”

This year the festival is sponsored by Magentis Solutions and Arden Estates.

Emma added: “For our summer party we always create a programme which has advertising space for a lot of companies and businesses and thankfully we have been able to do this for our music festival.

“Due to this we have additional sponsorship help so we are very grateful for their support as well as all the bands and food vendors that have helped us too.”

The festival, running from 12:30pm to 9pm, will be based on the football field on Linthurst Road.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, £5 for children and under 5’s are free. They can be purcahsed via www.tickettailor.com/events/blackwellfestival
