WITH just two weeks to go until the 50th Isle of Wight Festival, organisers are looking back at some of the biggest names to grace Seaclose Park's main stage.
It took only one event in 1968 to put Isle of Wight on the festival map, as it then grew to become world-renowned for iconic performances from the likes of The Doors, The Who and Jimi Hendrix ins his last ever UK show.
The festival was successfully relaunched in 2002, and has maintained its reputation as one of the most exciting weekends in British summer.
In the last 16 years, the Newport main stage has seen show-stopping headliners like Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z, Coldplay and Fleetwood Mac.
This year's festival, which runs from Thursday, June 21 to Sunday, June 24, features music legends such as Kasabian, Depeche Mode, The Killers and Liam Gallagher.
Chase and Status, Feeder, Travis and Sigrid will also be performing on the Big Top stage.
In honour of the festival’s Golden Jubilee, all attendees are invited on Saturday 23rd June to adorn themselves in gold for a weekend of fun and celebration.
Expect to see sparkling divas, shining stars and victorious gladiators come together for this year’s 50th anniversary.
