BALLROOM dancing could be an innovative way to help tackle obesity in children, at least that’s the opinion of Natalie Hyde-Bond from Worcester’s Groove Dance Studio.
She’s introducing a children’s dance activity in Droitwich and Fernhill Heath.
The Fernhill Heath one began on Monday, while the one in Spa is tomorrow evening (Thu, Sep 18).
She says: “There is currently little opportunity for children in the area to take up this kind of dancing. We are always hearing in news reports about how many children are becoming overweight and what can be done to tackle the problem."
To encourage youngsters to become more active, socialise and make new friends, The Groove Dance Studio is offering children of all ages the opportunity to get their dancing shoes on, and follow in the steps of the celebrities from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing!
The fun and lively classes, where the children can learn to Cha Cha, Tango and Salsa, also give them the opportunity to work towards dancing medals, giving them a sense of achievement continues at the Community Hall in Droitwich tomorrow (6.30pm). Classes are £2.50 per session.
