POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was "left for dead" in a hit-and-run in Northfield.
It is believed that a green Volvo C70 hit the motorcyclist on a mini roundabout on Hoggs Lane at around 1.20pm on Monday, April 11.
The driver did not stop and left a 23-year-old man lying seriously injured in the road.
He sustained life changing injuries and continues to be treated in hospital for a serious leg injury.
Shortly after the collision the Volvo was found burnt out on Gannow Green Lane in Rubery.
Pc John Williams, from the force's serious collision team, said: "The motorcyclist was left for dead by the driver of the Volvo who did not stop at the scene.
"It was a passing pedestrian that came to his aid and called an ambulance. He is seriously injured and we need to find the person responsible and are making a plea to anyone who has any knowledge to come forward.
"We continue to make enquiries into the owner of the car and I would appeal for the driver to think long and hard about their actions and to do the right thing by coming forward.
"If you know of anyone who owned a dark green Volvo C70 and you have noticed that they have recently 'sold' it or have replaced it then please call me or one of the team so we can make further enquiries."
