BROMSGROVE motorists have a higher driving test success rate than the national average, while the town’s male drivers are more likely to pass than women.
Figures released by the DVLA show the overall pass rate of 48 per cent is slightly higher than the national average of 47.4 per cent in the six months to September last year.
In Bromsgrove, 48.5 per cent of men (82 out of 169) passed their test in the four months to July, compared to 47.7 per cent of women (114 out of 239).
The town’s male drivers fare worse than the 50.8 per cent national average for men, whereas Bromsgrove’s women bettered the national average for females of 44.3 per cent.
The figures, released at the end of 2016, show neighbouring Redditch has a lower pass rate than Bromsgrove, where 43.8 per cent of drivers passed in the six months to September.
Golspie in the Scottish Highlands boasts the highest pass rate at 83.9 per cent, while drivers in Malton in Yorkshire have the best pass rate in England at 70.6 per cent.
The worst pass rate is at Belvedere in East London, where just 28.3 per cent make the cut.
Nationally, 382,238 out of 806,380 drivers passed in the six months to September.
