MUSIC lessons and other small teaching groups at a Barnt Green school will now be taught on board a bus, in an attempt to combat space constraints.
St Andrew's First School realised the need to move some classes outside the school building early last year, and agreed that a 'bus classroom' parked within the schools grounds was the best way forward.
The school's Parent Teacher Association began fundraising to buy the vehicle, hosting a village ball in May 2016.
National Express later offered to donate the bus and drove it into the Hewell Road playground in February this year.
Parents, teachers and other volunteers took on the challenge of converting the bus into a fully-functioning learning zone, while Bromsgrove firm Falcon Flooring donated and fitted the double-decker's floors.
The bus, named 'Buster' by students, was officially opened on Friday, July 7 by Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid, who was given a tour of the school before taking part in a Q&A session with children.
A spokesman for the school said: "St Andrews are proud that their plans for a learning bus have now turned into a reality.
"Everyone got a chance to go onto the bus and see the finished article. The children’s faces as they entered the bus were of joy and excitement."
Buster will be used for small teaching groups, music lessons, one-to-one sessions and teacher planning.
