Burcot Garden Club
The Burcot Garden Club’s November meeting was held in The Burcot Garden Centre instead of the usual Burcot Village Hall. Hosts for the evening were the owners, Neil and Nicci Gow. The evening began with complementary refreshments of coffee and cakes, and this was followed by a most entertaining and informative talk on “Running a Garden Centre”. Neil and Nicci - as they jokingly called themselves - the “Bill and Ben” of garden centres, described the complexity of forward planning and stocking the exact items and plants that the public would want, before they knew they wanted them. Very complex – and never ending. It was fascinating. After the talk, the garden club members were given time to shop in the Garden Centre, with the added attraction of a 10% discount. Overall an excellent evening.
The December’s Meeting will have a film “The Bernese Oberland, Switzerland” presented by the well known television gardener, Howard Drury. As it is the “Christmas” meeting, mince pies and wine will be offered on arrival.
The club meets on the first Wednesday in every month at 7.30pm at the Burcot Village Hall. Non-members are always welcome.
