THREE women from Bromsgrove have been recognised as ‘wildlife heroes’ by the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.

The trust held an awards night on Friday, August 3, as part of its 50th birthday celebrations, to celebrate people across the county who help wildlife.

Among the 25 recipients was Angela Jones, who was recognised for her work rescuing wildlife in and around the Bromsgrove area.

Linda Jones also received the award after devoted her back garden to wildlife, replacing her lawn with a mini wildflower meadow to help provide habitats and food.

The third recipient, Jayne Lombardi-Vaughan, has dedicated her life to helping vulnerable animals handed in to Clent Hills Veterinary Surgeries. At the time of the nomination, she was caring for a fox cub, feeding her every two hours.

Rae Howard-Louvaine, senior engagement officer for the Trust and organiser of the wildlife heroes awards, said: “We appealed for nominations earlier in the year and have been delighted by the response.

“It’s great to know that there are so many people that are doing their bit to help wildlife right across Worcestershire.

“Thank you to everyone who nominated a hero and thank you too to all our wildlife heroes for their work in caring for wildlife throughout our county.2

Wildlife heroes receive an invitation to an awards ceremony at the Trust’s headquarters, Lower Smite Farm, as well as a certificate to recognise their contribution and a specially commissioned pin badge.

They will also be added to the Trust’s wildlife heroes county map, which is featured on its website.
