‘STONE the crows’! Budding musical merchants from a Bromsgrove school proved ‘any dream will do’ as they put on a superb production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
The Year 2 Bromsgrove Pre-Prep students did not have to ‘Grovel, Grovel’ – far from it – for plaudits for their performance at the school’s Cobham Theatre.
Mrs Jacqui Deval-Reed, headmistress of Bromsgrove Pre-Prep and Prep School, showed the children a signed photo of the musical's co-producer Sir Tim Rice, thanking them for their performance.
And Mrs Kate Western, Pre-Prep deputy head (academic) said: “The children have thoroughly enjoyed preparing for this production. What a wonderful way to finish their time in Year 2.
“We heard some amazing songs which told the biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, the 11 brothers and Joseph’s coat of many colours.
“And with their polished performance, it was easy to forget just how young these children are.”
The magical musical featured many stand-out performances, including Joseph with a multi-coloured parachute coat and an Elvis-inspired Pharaoh.
It was full of catchy songs in a mixture of styles, from French ballad, country and western, to Calypso, including Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door.
