Hospital data since January 22 reveals the county has already gone above the grim milestone of 1,000 Covid deaths since that date.

In positive news, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed on Friday (January 29) that 1,500 coronavirus patients had been discharged from the county's hospitals since the start of the pandemic.

Announcing the milestone on Twitter, the trust said: "We've now discharged 1,500 coronavirus patients back home after care with us. That's 1,500 families reunited. Thousands of hours of care needed. And thousands of our staff all working to put patients first.

"Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Help us save more lives."
