AROUND 170 children were sent home from Lickey Hills Primary School and Nursery on Tuesday (June 15) after a member of staff tested positive for Covid.
The relevant bubbles have been asked to self-isolate for 10 days and learn remotely until June 28.
A parent of a child who attends the primary school told The Advertiser that the staff member tested positive through a lateral flow test.
Parents were sent an email on Tuesday afternoon stating "Unfortunately we are having to close our Year 1 bubble due to the children being in contact with a positive case in school.
"Please come and collect your child at your earliest convenience from the main School Office."
It is believed that the school years affected are nursery, reception, year one and all year five and six students that attend any wrap around care.
The school have closed 'The Hive', which is the school's out of school club, until June 28 and not providing a hot meal service to 'mitigate the risk of Covid 19 transmission.'
Dr Kathryn Cobain, director of public health for Worcestershire, said: “We have been advised of a confirmed Coronavirus case at Lickey Hills Primary School.
"The case was quickly identified by the school and public health.
"The relevant bubbles have been asked to self-isolate and the school continues to be supported by public health.
"All children within the bubbles will continue their learning through remote access."
On June 16 the case had been confirmed as positive following a PCR test.
