PUPILS at North Bromsgrove High School celebrated the end of the summer term by donating their recent fundraising efforts to the Basement Project, a young persons homeless charity in Bromsgrove.
As part of The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust ‘On Track to Achieve’ programme, a group of Year nine and ten pupils organised a social action project and raised a total of £250.
Miss Katy Travers, pupil premium pastoral leader at the school said, “We are so grateful for the support of our wonderful students and parents to help us contribute to important local charities like the Basement Project.”
Sixth form students also arranged an Inter-House competition which included a food bank collection, and several food parcels were created from each house.
Sixth form tutor Jo Evans said, “It is a privilege to be a Sixth Form tutor and I am very proud of our students.”
Kelly Turner, community fundraiser at the Basement Project said, "After a year in lockdown, it was great to get back out into school and meet these amazing young people, who have done so much to support their peers in need.
"The food parcels will be gratefully received by families struggling to make ends meet, and £250 will help a young person to get set up in a tenancy with some whitegoods or some carpet.
"Thank you to all involved - especially to Miss Travers for organising such a fabulous initiative.”
The Basement Project provide support for people ages 16 to 25 across North Worcestershire, who are homeless or facing homelessness.
