A PENSIONER who was killed in a hit and run in Alvechurch last month has been named as Stephan Jones.
The 63-year-old from Alvechurch and his dog died after being hit by a car which fled the scene on Redditch Road on Sunday, August 15.
James Bullock of Shawfield, Hollywood appeared at Worcester Crown Court on September 8 after being charged with a number offences relating to the incident including: causing death by dangerous driving, driving a vehicle involved in a road accident; failing to report that accident and committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.
The 28-year-old appeared via video link and did not enter a plea.
Bullock was arrested on Friday, August 27 in Stratford-upon-Avon by officers from Warwickshire Police for public order offences.
He evaded police for 12 days after the fatal crash and disposed of his mobile phone to prevent him from being located.
The following morning, he was transferred to the custody of West Mercia Police officers.
The case has been adjourned until September 27.
The inquest into Stephan Jones’ death was opened on August 31 by Stourport Coroners and adjourned for a hearing on February 14 next year.
