The main focus was on the Worcester Nursing Cup matches with the opening round taking place in the Minor and Junior Cup.
With our Division 2 sides being handed some tough games against the higher echelons of the Worcester League, our success rate was perhaps not as high as it has been in previous years.
That said, we still had some excellent results.
Rubery Athletico dished out another thrashing and made sure the sting was taken out of the Hornets with an 8-0 victory.
Hizza United also won by 8 goals as they gave a second half demolition job to New Chequers with Harry Nicholls scoring yet another hat-trick.
Meadow Park and Longbridge Social are also safely through to the next round having beaten BDFL opposition in their games, whilst Quinton Athletic’s good start to the season continued as they won away at New Inn, braces for Anton Gardner-Bennett and Jordan Murphy.
Have Real Norton turned the corner? Maybe so with a 6-0 away win at Eaton whilst Catshill put one over Clifton Rovers by the same scoreline. South West Alliance also won away for the second week running, a fine 3-1 win at Perrywood AFC Reserves. Our other 5 representatives all went out.
In internal BDFL League action, Bromsgrove Partisan won 5-3 at home to AFC Blackwell in a very even Division 2 game with ‘Deano’ scoring four of the goals.
Ben Hewitt got a brace for Blackwell who weren’t quite at the races.
Meanwhile in Division 3, Redditch Borough LB won the match at Charford against a Frankley side who felt a handball decision didn’t go their way leading to the winning goal meaning a Redditch away win by 3 goals to 2. Callum Bissett and Danny ‘Foggy’ Fogarty scoring for Frankley who also saw Thomas Glencross sent off late on.
Crusaders young side got their first win of the season beating Red Star Bromsgrove 2-0, Red Star not being helped by Dan Everton being sent off for two bookable offences.
