A NIGHTCLUB in Bromsgrove is increasing searches after a national increase in spiking incidents.
57 Monkeys on Worcester Road has confirmed they will be increasing body and bag searches amongst other measures to keep party goers safe.
The club are offering drink protectors to customers and increasing SIA security. All staff are also being given extra anti spike training.
The popular dance spot is asking clubbers to avoid leaving drinks unattended and to stay with friends.
A Facebook post from the nightclub also says: “If you see someone looking unwell, alert our staff.
“If you feel unsafe in anyway speak to us, we are here to help.”
This comes as around 200 drink spiking incidents have been reported to police forces across the UK over the past two months.
The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) said there have been 198 confirmed reports of drink spiking in September and October across various parts of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, plus 24 reports of some form of injection.
It said the number included both men and women, although the majority of cases featured young women.
Alleged offences have taken place at licensed premises and private parties.
