PLANS to demolish 32 garages and build affordable housing near Bromsgrove has been given the go ahead by planners.
The application, consisting of three affordable bungalows on land off Elmwood Grove in Hollywood has been passed by Bromsgrove District Council.
Plans from Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht) show three one-bedroom bungalows for two people, each with a living/dining room, one bedroom, kitchen and shower room.
The site currently accommodates two blocks of 16 lock garages – only seven are currently let.
However, bdht say ‘due to the lack of alternative vacant lock up garages within the vicinity of the site’ they are unable to offer an alternative.
The design and access statement states the homes meet a need for small, rented properties and ‘also compliments the mix of other properties that are owned by Bromsgrove District Housing Trust in Hollywood.’
