Droitwich 7
Nuneaton Old Edwardians 5
Midlands Division Three South (West)
TITLE-chasing Droitwich beat Nuneaton Old Edwardians despite turning in their worst display of the season.
The second-placed side squeezed home in a poor, error-strewn contest.
But drizzle and bad under-foot conditions did not inspire free-flowing rugby.
Droitwich started brightly with Nick Godfrey and Phil Horton going close before Steve Poke dummied his way over to score.
Duncan Hughes added the difficult conversion.
The visitors hit back and seemed to have the lion's share of the ball.
But solid tackling by the Droitwich midfield kept them at bay.
The second period saw lacklustre defence by the Spa side, allowing Nuneaton to pull an unconverted try back.
As the game wore on, Droitwich were less able to control the ball and eventually hung on for the closest of victories.
After the memorable games of the last two weeks, it seemed inevitable a poor one was round the corner.
However, Droitwich will be satisfied they came away with a win, despite playing so poorly.
