MOTORISTS are paying more than the average price of petrol if they are filling up at some Bromsgrove forecourts.
Average petrol prices have exceeded 155p per litre for the first time as oil prices continue to soar due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Figures from data firm Experian Catalist show the average cost of a litre of petrol at UK forecourts on Sunday, February 6 was 155.62p.
The price of diesel is also at a record high of 161.28p
A year ago, the price per litre of petrol and diesel was 124.32p and 127.25p respectively.
In Bromsgrove, the most expensive place to fill up a vehicle is at The Forest Service Station on Birmingham Road.
On Monday, February 7 the forecourt charged 163.9p per litre for unleaded fuel and 169.9p per litre for diesel.
The cheapest place to fill up within five miles of Bromsgrove is at Morrisons Rubery on Bristol Road South which costs 144.9p per litre for unleaded fuel and 150.9p per litre for diesel.
However, if motorists take a short trip over the border into Redditch, they will be saving money.
The most expensive forecourt within five miles of Redditch is BP on Birmingham Road, Redditch which charged 151.9p per litre for unleaded fuel and 154.9p for diesel.
The cheapest unleaded fuel across Bromsgrove and Redditch can be purchased at Newpark Garage on Alcester Road, Redditch where unleaded will set you back 143.7p per litre and diesel 149.7p per litre.
RAC fuel spokesperson, Simon Williams, said: “The average price of petrol across the UK has jumped by more than 4p in a week topping £1.55 for the first time.
“These hikes are unprecedented and will sadly be hitting both homes and businesses hard.”
