DAREN Heaume and Helen Savage were married at Bromsgrove Spiritualist church and afterwards at The Whitehouse Hotel, Worcester.
Daren lived in Fernhill Heath as a child and attended Claines primary, Witton middle and Droitwich High schools. He currently splits his time between his home in Worcester and his base in Abingdon.
Helen has lived in Droitwich Spa since 1991 and currently works for Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Blackpole, Worcester.
Corporal Heaume has recently completed his second tour of duty in Afghanistan during which time he was involved in close quarter fighting and risked his own life when a vehicle carrying his fellow British soldiers struck a mine. He crossed a minefield on foot to rescue two colleagues and administer first aid while his convoy cleared a path for the doctors to arrive.
Daren, known as Rudie by his army colleagues, joined the Royal Army in 1989, aged 18, and has forged a distinguished and highly decorated career. He was involved in campaigns during the first Gulf War and the Balkans, as well as tours of Northern Ireland and the recent combat zone of Afghanistan. He was awarded a Long Service medal from Princess Anne in November. At the wedding, the groom wore his Number One Dress Uniform, as did his best man, Gary Allerston. The wedding was attended by members of Cpl Heaume's squadron in regimental uniform.
