A one-man protest is being staged at Worcester Warriors’ stadium - with the man locked inside the reception area.
Business owner David Chill, 59, has refused to leave the reception area at Sixways over alleged unpaid payments.
The director of Bromsgrove-based Versatility in Print claims the club owes him £3,500 for promotional goods purchased last year.
Our reporter has attempted to contact the owners but have not yet received a response.
“I have locked myself in the reception and will be refusing to leave until my situation is dealt with,” he said.
“I supplied the club with goods in December 2021 and since then I have been trying to get payments but each month it just gets passed on to the next.
“I have my own staff to pay, one of whom has a six-week-old baby.
“I am just tying to hold my ground.”
Mr Chill arrived at the club’s reception shortly before 9am on Thursday, August 25.
At around 10.30am he spoke on the phone with the Warriors’ managing director, Peter Kelly.
Mr Chill added: “Sadly it isn’t looking promising.
“I understand that the bank accounts have been frozen, meaning no payments can come in or out
“They have tried to assure me that they will make the payment as soon as they are able to but there is no time scale for this.”
Mr Chill’s one-man protest comes just a day after dozens of rugby fans gathered outside the stadium to show their support for the club.
Former player Jonny Arr was among those in the crowds.
He said: "What is happening is very concerning and that the club is in the position that it is in.
"I think I can speak for most people when I say that everyone who has come out today just wants a positive outcome."
Speaking to a reporter at 11am on Thursday, Mr Chill said that he wasn’t yet sure how long he would remain at the reception.
“I don’t know if I will leave on my own accord or if I will make them remove me,” he added.
There was no one available to speak at the scene but the club’s press office has also been contacted for a response.
