A BROMSGROVE care home is celebrating after receiving two national award wins for its culinary skills.

The team at Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, took first place for ‘Care Establishment of the Year’ at the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) awards and Alex Millichamp, Second Chef at Chandler Court, also scooped the Health and Hygiene award.

The National Association of Care Catering Awards rewards individuals, teams, companies and organisations who deliver high-quality, nutritious food in a care setting.

The team was praised by the judges for their person-centred approach, catering to residents’ daily needs and adjusting menus to better suit their preferences.

Alex said: “The team and I are incredibly proud to have taken a top spot at the National Association of Care Catering Awards this year.

"Our team is dedicated to providing the very best dining experience for residents and creating menus that are inventive, nutritious and tasty – so we’re thrilled that our efforts have been recognised at a national level.”

Team members often choose to eat with residents on the dementia floor and chat with them over meals to ensure everyone gets to know each other.

Vongai Mushinga, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “Alex and the team go above and beyond to cater specifically to residents’ wants and needs, taking the time to sit and learn more about them.

"We’re delighted to have taken home these awards as it is a testament to the hard work, care and thoughtfulness that the catering team put into every meal here at Chandler Court.

“I would like to congratulate Alex and his team for their commitment to providing the very highest standard of catering.”

Chandler Court is a care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care.
