A WELL-LOVED Bromsgrove primary school teacher has received a second nomination for a Worcestershire Education Award.

Emma Mardell, a Year Four teacher at The Orchards School has received another nomination for Teacher of the Year at this year’s Worcestershire Education Awards.

The 28-year-old has received her second nomination from Marie Hannis, a parent of a child she teaches.

Marie said: “My son has really struggled with his emotions.

“Miss Mardell within weeks has helped with his outbursts, by using her patience, understanding and adapting ideas to help him.

“We have seen such a huge improvement in him under her teaching.

“She gives up her own time and just shows pure passion for children doing well.

“My son isn't the only one she supports and has helped grow.

“I can't thank her enough and she is just wonderful and genuinely cares.

“I have never come across a teacher that cares as much as she does.

“When my son does something well, as simply as walking away to calm down - she is just as overjoyed as I am!”

In response to the nomination, Emma said she was very grateful for the support and kindness she has received.

Emma said her mother, who died unexpectedly in January 2021, encouraged her to become a teacher.

The Worcestershire Education Awards in partnership with the University of Worcester has 12 categories and runs across all of our Worcestershire titles – the Worcester News, Malvern Gazette, Evesham Journal, Bromsgrove & Droitwich Advertiser, Redditch Advertiser and Kidderminster Shuttle.

The closing date for nominations is Monday, February 13.

The awards will culminate in a black-tie event on Thursday, April 20, at 7pm at the Abbey Hotel, Great Malvern.
