RESIDENTS at a Bromsgrove care home have been reading classic bedtime stories to nursery children.
Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, welcomed The Castle Nursery into the home’s library for a retelling of That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown by Cressida Cowell.
Shirley Priestley, aged 87, read to the youngsters.
Shirley said: “I was excited to spend time with the children – I enjoyed every minute and was amazed by how clever they were.”
Vongai Mushinga, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “We always enjoy opening our doors to the local community, so it was fantastic to be joined by The Castle Nursery children.
“Intergenerational activities are incredibly enriching for all ages and provide a fantastic opportunity for residents and children to interact with one another.
“We thoroughly enjoyed hosting the ‘Bedtime Stories’ reading session with the children and hope that we have helped them to continue building a love of reading.”
