BROMSGROVE is set to gain its second Costa Coffee drive-thru, creating a host of new jobs.
Plans have been passed for a drive-thru coffee shop on land next to the Topaz Business Park on A38 Birmingham Road despite objections about traffic concerns.
Originally 26 car parking spaces were proposed for the coffee shop but following an amendment to maintain a large hazel tree on the site, there will be 23 parking spaces for customers.
As the site currently is overflow parking for the business park, an additional 17 parking spaces will be created elsewhere within the park to combat any loss of spaces.
It is prosed seven part-time roles will be created along with 11 full-time jobs.

A statement accompanying the planning application notes: “The proposed development will provide a key amenity and enhance already well-connected routes in around the Midlands.”

However, concerns have been raised about additional traffic in an already congested area of Bromsgrove.
Access for the drive-thru is proposed from the existing access road off Birmingham Road to the Topaz Business Park.
A resident who lives opposite the business park says she has to turn right onto Birmingham Road to leave her property.
She said: “This is currently a very difficult and dangerous process, especially when trying to turn right due to the volume of traffic.
“Currently the traffic leaving the business park creates a hazard when both sides of the road are trying to join traffic at an extremely busy motorway junction.
“Adding to this traffic by building a drive-thru Costa Coffee would cause an enormous inconvenience and only add to the potential accident risk and make our lives living on the road very difficult.”
Currently, there is one Costa Coffee shop on Bromsgrove High Street and one drive-thru on Morrisons car park on Buntsford Park Road.
