A MAN accused of punching his brother is to stand trial.
Samuel Phillips, of Shepherds Hill in Droitwich, indicated a plea of not guilty to assaulting his brother and causing him actual bodily harm.
The alleged incident is said to have happened at an engagement party on May 28 last year.
Worcester Magistrates’ Court heard how Phillips, 27, punched Joseph Phillips multiple times in the face after being asked to get in a taxi at the end of a party.
He was alleged to then have kicked Mr Phillips on the floor.
Jason Patel, defending, said his client did not instigate the altercation and acted in self-defence.
He also denied the allegation of kicking him.
A date of June 9 was set for a summary trial at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court.
Phillips was granted unconditional bail.
