A CEREMONY to show support for the armed forces, past and present, is set to be held in Bromsgrove.
Organised by Bromsgrove District Council chairman Cllr Sam Ammar, the flag-raising event will take place on Monday, June 19 in the run-up to and in honour of Armed Forces Day which takes place this year on Saturday, June 24.
Cllr Ammar said: “By flying the flag in our community, we are showing our support and gratitude for all of the men and women who are or have been a part of our armed forces and offering our thanks for their bravery in the service of the defence of our country, citizens and way of life.”
The flag will be raised by Cllr Ammar and representatives from the Royal British Legion and other invited guests and dignitaries will be in attendance.
The short ceremony will take place at 10am at Crown Close near to Amphlett Hall and the War Memorial.
The flag will be flown all week as part of a national initiative raising awareness of the role of the Armed Forces and celebrating past, present and future generations of Armed Forces personnel.
