MORE than 1200 pupils from Worcestershire schools gathered at Bromsgrove School for the Worcestershire Summer School Games, a day filled with competitive and non-competitive sporting activities.
The event, funded by the National Lottery and Sport England, aims to promote participation in school competitions and physical activity across the country.
Highlights of this year’s event, which was held on July 4, included the Skateboard and Scooter Festival, where pupils had the chance to develop new skills and build confidence.
Stephen Brewster, Chief Executive Officer at Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire said, “We were delighted to see the return of the Worcestershire Summer School Games this summer.
"At Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, we firmly believe in the power of sport and physical activity to bring people together and the Worcestershire School Games did just that.”
AJB Sports in Education, a local education company, sponsored the games.
Competition results featured Batchley First School and Aston Fields Middle School taking home the gold in the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Tennis competitions, respectively.
The Vaynor First School triumphed in the Tri Golf competition, while Woodrush High School excelled in the Year 9 Rounders event.
