Droitwich (15pts) 259-8
Redditch (9pts) 211-7
Match drawn
DROITWICH CC recorded their first winning draw of the season after an impressive performance in Crusader Worcestershire League Division One.
Spa lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a good batting track.
Jerome Connor gave them a solid start at and looked composed at the crease.
But when he was caught behind, it started a mini Droitwich collapse, with Neil Wright, Phil Hamilton and Gary Cartwright falling in quick succession.
Paul Bryan turned up the heat on the Redditch attack.
He batted the 50 overs scoring a brilliant 108 not out.
He was supported by the lower order especially wicketkeeper batsman Steve Walsh to help Droitwich reach a creditable score.
Mike Rogers opened the bowling attack with a fierce spell, forcing false shots from the Redditch opening batsman.
With the ball falling into gaps and not going to hand, it looked to be another frustrating day for Spa.
But, watched on by Droitwich resident Ashley Giles, and suspended captain Andrew Fletcher, the tide started to turn.
Neil Davies ran out the opening batsman for 45 after a mix up in the middle.
This was followed by a wicket for centurion Bryan whose short ball was pulled straight to Neil Wright.
Jake Young bowled a long, impressive spell, picking up three wickets with Martyn Davies, playing his first league game, claiming two wickets.
Spa were unable to claim the last three wickets but it was a confidence boosting display ahead of next weekend's game against Stourbridge.
