A POPULAR Bromsgrove town centre car park will be partially closed for six days in September to undergo much-needed improvement works.
Recreation Road Car Park, which serves both town centre and Asda shoppers, will be temporarily closed in phases from September 18 to facilitate the resurfacing process.
Diversions will be clearly marked to guide motorists to alternative access and exit routes, ensuring their safety and convenience.
Despite the phased closure, the car park will remain partially open to allow continued usage, although it may experience higher-than-usual demand due to the reduced number of available spaces.
The council's contractors, Kelbec, will be implementing these improvements, which will make the car park a safer and more efficient space for all users.
During the improvement works, the car park may be dusty and noisy.
The council deemed it necessary to carry out the works during the day as it was not cost-effective or appropriate to complete them overnight.
The resurfacing works are not the only improvements happening at the car park.
From September 4 to September 17, minor enhancements will also be carried out, which are not expected to cause significant disruption to car park users.
These improvements are part of the council's car park improvement scheme, which has included recent upgrades such as new lighting, electric charging points, new payment options and machines, and resurfacing works across the district.
Bromsgrove District Council's portfolio holder for environmental services, Councillor Peter Whittaker, said: "These improvement works are part of our commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities that meet the needs of our residents. We recognise the significance of Recreation Road Car Park to our community and its visitors, so it is vital that these works take place to ensure longevity. We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience caused but the outcome will be worthwhile for all.”
