WORCESTERSHIRE is set to feel the influence of Storm Babet this afternoon with heavy rain forecast. 

An amber warning for rain is in place across large sections of the country - although fortunately our area is currently not covered by that warning. 

But the effect of the storm will be seen in our region with the forecast for the West Midlands to be up to 40 to 66m of rain in places, 80mm for some hills. 

The forecast for Worcester is drizzle and light rain from noon before the rain turns heavy from 5pm through to midnight. 

 

Thundery showers, some heavy, are forecast for Thursday and light rain is forecast for early Friday morning before it turns dry. 

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Tony Wardle said: “Storm Babet will bring disruption for parts of the UK in the coming days, with heavy rain and strong winds likely for many.

“Heavy and persistent rain will fall onto already saturated ground bringing a risk of flooding. It is important to stay up to date with warnings from your local flood warning agency as well as the local authorities.

“Met Office warnings will continue to be reviewed as the forecast develops.”
