FESTIVE shoppers can enjoy free parking in Bromsgrove while they visit some of the district’s independent traders this Small Business Saturday.
The national event on Saturday (December 2) encourages residents to ‘shop local’ and, as well as retailers, this includes the host of cafes and eateries which Bromsgrove boasts.
To help the Christmas present budget stretch further, Bromsgrove District Council has extended free parking in all its car parks for Small Business Saturday and that Sunday.
On the Saturday festive entertainers will also be in the High Street spreading Christmas cheer 11am-2pm, and shoppers will be able to get a free special hessian shopper bag while stocks last.
The district council’s deputy leader Councillor Sue Baxter, whose portfolio covers economic development, said: “Bromsgrove boasts an eclectic array of shops, businesses and eateries and I am delighted that we can support them by offering free parking as part of Small Business Saturday.
“It’s important that we use our independent traders so they can continue to add something unique to our high streets and town centre, even if you just buy a present or two it can make all the difference to our business owners.”
Visit Worcestershire has also commissioned a showcase of independent eateries in Bromsgrove as part of Small Business Saturday, to highlight the variety on offer to residents and visitors alike. Look out for more on social media.
Council Leader Councillor Karen May, who is responsible for partnerships, added: “It is wonderful to turn the focus on our independents, especially our food and drink retailers.
“By working with partners I hope we can work towards promoting this further next year and encouraging more people to have a taste of Bromsgrove.”
