A private hospital is partnering up with a hospice to sponsor a penguin for the upcoming Waddle of Worcester.

Droitwich Spa Hospital, part of the Circle Health, is collaborating with St Richard’s Hospice on this initiative.

The hospital serves patients living in Droitwich Spa, Worcester, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.

The Waddle of Worcester, delivered by the hospice, is a sculpture trail event featuring individually designed penguins by artists.

Claire Davenport, executive director at the hospital, said: "As a local hospital, we're very aware of the exceptional care St Richard’s has provided over the last four decades across our community.

"A charity which has touched the hearts of many – including our own team here – we couldn’t be prouder to be supporting our local hospice."

She added: "Our team members have also loved collecting the St Richard’s giraffes and elephants around Worcester in previous years."

Sara Matthews, business development manager for the hospice, said: "It’s really wonderful to welcome Droitwich Spa Hospital to our hospice huddle.

"The team have selected an absolutely beautiful design which will be brought to life by a local artist in the months ahead.

"We can’t wait for everyone to see the artistry that’s going into this year’s trail when we launch on July 22."

In total, forty penguins and chicks will be painted by nearby schools and community groups.
