Following a massive kitchen renovation, a brand new community café is set to open its doors in the heart of a Bromsgrove village.

Muntjacs Café's grand opening is set to take place on Saturday (April 20) at Blackwell Community Hall, where attendees will be treated to freshly brewed coffee, homemade cakes, and other refreshments.

The café will be open to the public every Saturday between 10am and 2pm.

The opening of the café marks the first community project after the installation of a £20,000 commercial kitchen at the Hall.

The café, run by a team of volunteers, aims to bolster community spirit and offer friendship to those who may feel lonely or simply in need of a chat.

One of the organisers, Naomi Pauley, said: “The hall exists for the community, to be a focal point for the village and provide a space for the people of Blackwell and the neighbouring areas to meet together.

"And we thought a café was the best way to achieve this and, at the same time, provide something in the community that we don’t currently have.

"If Muntjacs Café can become known as a place for people to meet friends and to make friends, then we’ll have succeeded in what we’re trying to achieve."

The hall's committee chair, Terry Pauley, said: “The hall’s been available for hire for a while, but it had an atrociously bad kitchen.

"Now people can come in and properly cook – so we finally have the complete package."

He added: "The building is very warm and welcoming, and we hope the new kitchen will attract more people to use the hall."

The hall can also be booked out for hire for £15 per hour on weekdays, whilst weekend slots come in four-hour blocks costing £60 overall.
