EXCITEMENT is in the air after a city grocery store revealed new plans to expand into a popular Worcestershire garden centre.

Three Counties Produce said it looks forward to welcoming old and new customers into its soon-to-be-developed store at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold.

Brothers Rob and James Thompson, who own Three Counties Produce, were approached by Webbs to build a permanent structure outside the centre to sell fresh produce on-site.

The two had already supplied the centre's restaurant with produce and said it was great to now team up on a bigger project.

Rob Thompson said: "It is fantastic to work with Webbs. We already supply the restaurant and this is the next step.

"We look forward to opening the first week of May."

The new venue will bring ten part-time and full-time jobs for which Three Counties Produce is currently hiring.

Plans show that Three Counties Produce will have its own bespoke unit outside the front entrance of Webbs.

The unit will have a big green sign which reads: "Three Counties Produce at Webbs."

Pictures designed to show the future layout of the unit show it will have a wooden entrance with some fresh food on the outside and then a small inside area.

Mr Thompson added: "I think this shows the early hours to get fresh produce to our customers have been worthwhile.

"It will be a very small fresh selection of produce in a bespoke unit outside Webbs' front doors."

The store will only provide fresh produce, which is not found inside Webbs' indoor food section, and will look to complement the garden centre's existing amenities.

Looking to the future, Mr Thompson said if the partnership does well, then the business could branch out into providing fresh produce at the other centres under Webbs' brand.
