A Worcestershire drama group are set to take to the stage this month for a show-stopping performance of a well-known classic.
Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section (KODYS) will open the doors to Fat Sam's speakeasy when they perform the iconic musical Bugsy Malone.
Based on the hit 1976 film starring Jodi Foster and featuring a catchy, swinging score by the composer of The Muppet Movie, Bugsy Malone tells the story of two rival gangs.
One has acquired the "splurge" gun, a new weapon that shoots whipped cream, with both gangs trying to outsmart each other.
The show is set in downtown New York during the prohibition era of the late 1920s when the sale of alcohol was prohibited and secret bars were popular.
There will be mass splurgings, the quest for fame and fortune and an epic car chase that will keep you glued to the edge of your seats.
Director Danielle Hickey said: "We've put this show together in a very tight timeframe, so we've been working at quite a pace and the children have risen to the challenge.
"I'm absolutely blown away by the incredible talent, enthusiasm and dedication that the children bring to the rehearsals.
"We are all getting excited now as the show draws closer with music and costumes beginning to bring it to life. I absolutely cannot wait for the children's families to come and see them shine."
KODYS, which has members from across Worcestershire, have been working hard rehearsing for the fun show following their previous sold-out performances with "Back to the 80s" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat".
The cast is made up of local children, aged 10 to 18, who come together twice a week to rehearse.
There are many new members taking part in their first full musical following the success of their annual concert in February.
The children will be accompanied live onstage by a band of professional musicians playing the soundtrack from the original film courtesy of musical director Russell Painter.
Performances will run at The Rose Theatre in Kidderminster from Thursday, June 27 to Saturday, June 29 at 7.30pm.
There will also be a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
