A Bromsgrove hero and community champion has been recognised in the King's Birthday Honours List.
Danny Bromage, of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), was awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal by King Charles III.
The medal is granted for distinguished service or gallantry by non-Commissioned Officers.
It is an honour extended since World War One for exceptional service in various capacities across the armed forces.
WO1 Bromage has since expressed his surprise and gratitude on learning about the honour.
He said: "I was shocked to receive the call. I never imagined receiving such an honour.
"My call to serve my country and community is deep-rooted within me. However, my efforts would be impossible without the support of my wife Vicky, my son Tyler and fantastic friends and family who have supported me to serve and support others."
WO1 Bromage's recognition is a testament to his outstanding military service and his tireless contributions to the community.
The Meritorious Service Medal is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exemplary commitment and sacrifice, not only in combat or operational roles, but also in their support for comrades and the wider community.
WO1 Bromage has demonstrated great humility and team spirit throughout his illustrious career and has shared his honour with those who have served alongside him.
He said: "Although I personally received the award, this award is a testament to the men and women who serve in the British Army and its successes both foreign and domestic."
WO1 Bromage's career has spanned an impressive 25 years and is marked by multiple achievements and dedication to duty across the world.
Throughout his tenure with REME, he said he has fostered a sense of camaraderie and community with the regiment and has also been actively involved in the community.
This includes raising funds for the Royal British Legion, supporting underprivileged children and families, raising awareness around mental health and more.
WOI Bromage added that the King's Birthday Honours List not only celebrates an individual's achievements but also highlights the invaluable contributions of all who serve.
