The council has issued changes to bin collections this week due to the expected heatwave.

Bromsgrove District Council said it would be starting all bin collection rounds earlier than usual all week and urged residents to have their bins out kerbside by 6am on bin days.

The aim is to help collection crews do more of their work during the cooler part of the day and to help keep staff safe.

The changes do not apply to those who have an assisted collection with crews being asked to try and pull out any bins that haven't been put out earlier to keep the services running smoothly.

The council are also urging people to help them spread the message to friends and neighbours.

A spokesperson for Bromsgrove District Council said: "Owing to the increased temperatures expected this week, we are making the usual changes to how we operate in high heat to protect our staff and keep your services running well.

"We will be starting all our bin collection rounds earlier than usual all week, so please have your bins out kerbside by an earlier-than-usual 6am on your bin days.

"Please help us spread this message to your friends and neighbours.

"Doing this will permit our collection crews to do more of their work during the cooler part of the day, which is important for such a physical job.

"We will also be asking crews to try and spot and pull out any bins that haven’t been put out earlier if they’re accessible but we can’t always do that so please put yours out early.

"Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
