Staff from three opticians in Worcestershire took part in a summer solstice golf challenge to raise money for charity.

Three employees from Specsavers branches in Bromsgrove, Worcester, and Malvern completed 72 holes of golf across four rounds at Ravensmeadow Golf Club in Worcester.

The trio managed to raise £1,500 for Prostate Cancer UK, a charity that focuses on raising awareness of prostate cancer and providing support to those affected by the disease.

The long game of golf took place on Friday, June 21, beginning at 4.15am and ending at 8pm.

Mike Walker, an audiologist at Specsavers Bromsgrove, Alan Richards, director at Specsavers Worcester and Malvern, Dean Taylor, Specsavers Malvern optical consultant, and friends Martin Cole and Gavin Francis took on the 16-hour golf challenge.

Mr Walker said: "It was a long day, but we were really lucky with the weather.

"We’d like to say thank you for all the donations that helped us raise such an amazing amount for Prostate Cancer UK, and to Ravensmeadow Golf Club for kindly covering the green fees for the day."

If you'd like to donate towards the fundraising, the team's JustGiving page is still live.
