Popular walking routes behind a church in Bromsgrove are set to be closed for several weeks this month.

Bromsgrove District Council has informed residents that the walking routes behind the Old Cemetery behind St John the Baptist Church (St John's) will be closed for essential maintenance work to be carried out.

The pathway throughout the Old Cemetery is set to be closed from Monday, July 1 for the duration of the month whilst significant but essential resurfacing takes place.

Bromsgrove District Council said that the work will be completed in sections, so residents will need to find alternative routes to avoid the closed sections.

Simon Parry, Bromsgrove District Council's interim head of environmental and housing property services, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these closures. We aim to complete the work as quickly as possible."

The work is part of the ongoing Bromsgrove footpath improvement program and follows on from work undertaken earlier in 2024 to the north of St John's Church.

Mr Parry added: "The works represent part of a large initiative to improve the walking infrastructure of the town through the ongoing footpath improvement programme."
