Children and young people in Bromsgrove who receive free school meals will be able to attend a range of free activities this summer.

These include swimming and climbing, as part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

The activities, held at Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre, are designed to appeal to a variety of interests and skill levels.

The sessions are designed to promote physical wellbeing and social interaction.

Every session also includes a balanced lunch.

Benjamin Betteridge, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: "We’re delighted to be part of the national HAF programme and provide children with the opportunity to get active this summer, regardless of their financial circumstances.

"We hope to see children from Bromsgrove join us to have fun and develop new skills."

Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for Leisure, Cllr Bernard McEldowney, said: "We recognise that during the summer holidays, parents and carers can feel added financial pressure.

"Providing free, active things to do during this time is invaluable and I hope everyone has a great time enjoying these activities."

The sessions will run from Monday to Thursday between 11am and 3pm every week, starting from July 29 until August 22.

All school children receiving benefits related to free school meals from reception to Year 11 are eligible.
