FIRE crews battled a blaze that broke out at the old Bilberry Centre on Rose Hill in Cofton Hackett.

The fire broke out at the derelict building on Wednesday evening (August 14).

Rose Hill was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the fire at the former youth club.

Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bromsgrove Fire Station, plus the aerial ladder platform from Worcester and a West Midlands Fire Service crew were called to the fire just after 8pm.

A spokesperson for the fire brigade said: "The fire was on the first floor of a derelict building and was extinguished by four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hosereel jets.

"The building was ventilated using positive pressure ventilation and searched for any further fires.

"Rose Hill was closed due to the incident. The incident was marked as pending closure at 21:34".

West Mercia Police said they attended to assist with a road closure at the top of Rose Hill while firefighters tackled the blaze.

They confirmed that enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the blaze.
