A post-mortem has revealed the 33-year-old man found dead outside a home in Rubery died as a result of "injuries consistent with being bitten by a dog".

West Midlands Police confirmed that the two dogs suspected of being involved in the attack had been seized after officers received information from the public.

The information helped them track the dogs down to a grassland area off Merritt's Hill shortly after 9.30am today.

The dogs were detained by specialist dog handlers and have been taken into kennels to undergo further assessment.

Police had previously issued an appeal to find the dogs after they were suspected of being involved in an incident where a man died in Hereford Close on Wednesday morning (August 21).

In an update this afternoon (Friday, August 23), West Midlands Police said tests will be carried out to confirm the breed of the dogs and this is expected to be concluded next week.

Officers also confirmed that a post-mortem had now been carried out and revealed the man died as a result of injuries consistent with being bitten by a dog.
